Guidelines for the Transfer of the Editorial Office of the Hispanic American Historical Review

The editorial office of the HAHR moved from Yale University to the University of Maryland in July 2002 and will move to another institution in July 2007. The new editors will assume responsibility for the February 2008 issue. Bids will be received during 2006, and the Board of Editors will make its determination at the annual meeting in January 2007. A subcommittee, consisting of board members whose terms overlap the transfer, will review the applications and make recommendations to the board at the January 2007 meeting.

Procedures to Be Employed:

  1. Formal bids and supporting data should be submitted to the current editors in five copies. The editors will forward all necessary documentation to the subcommittee.
  2. Bids should include the names and vitae of the proposed editor(s), managing editor, and book review editor.
  3. The extent of university support (for example, release time, clerical aid, graduate assistantships, telephone, postage, photocopying, and supplies) should be included, as should a statement of commitment from appropriate university administrators.
  4. A cover lever from the proposed editor(s) to the board should provide any additional information deemed appropriate.
  5. The deadline on receipt of bids will be November 1, 2006. The current editors will be happy to respond to any questions raised by those considering making a formal bid.
